HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN PERSONAL HYGIENE DENGAN PERILAKU HYGIENE MENSTRUASI REMAJA PUTRI KELAS 7 & 8 DI SMP WIDYA BATAM 2021

Abstract

Background : Personal hygiene is important thing in determining health status. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and menstrual hygiene behaviors for 7th and 8th grade female students at SMP Widya Batam in 2021.

Method: This research was an observational analytic research with cross sectional approach. The number of samples was 184 respondents grade 7 & 8 at SMP Widya Batam in 2021. Data collection techniques were taken through personal hygiene knowledge and menstrual hygiene behavior questionnaires. Univariate analysis was presented in the frequency distribution table and bivariate analysis used the Pearson Chi-Square Test with computer system.

Results: Female students with good personal hygiene knowledge and good menstrual hygiene behavior was 39 (37.9%), enough 43 (41.7%), and less 21 (20.4%). Female students with enough personal hygiene knowledge with good menstrual hygiene behaviors were 11 (23.9%), enough 23 (50%), and less 12 (26.1%). Female students with less personal hygiene knowledge and good menstrual hygiene behavior was 10 (28.6%), enough 7 (20%) and less 18 (51.4%). Pearson Chi-Square Test results obtained p value of 0.003. The p value was smaller than the significant value or Sig. (2-tailed), which was 0.05. Ho refused to show that there was a relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and menstrual hygiene behavior of 7th & 8th grade female students in SMP Widya Batam 2021.

Conclusion: Based on this study, it was concluded that there was a relationship between personal hygiene knowledge and menstrual hygiene behavior of 7th & 8th grade  female students in SMP Widya Batam 2021
